Stairwell Sculpture at Carley and Jon's

Finally finished the installation of this piece from the Rise and Fall exhibit in Clarksville at my friends Jon and Carley's house in Nashville. They have it where they can pull the small avocado over the pulley at the top of the stairs and it raises the big avocado on the large face hanging on the wall above the bottom of the stairs. I never would have thought to install the smaller floor component of piece from the exhibit on the wall but it looks and works great. Thanks Jon and Carley(and Tony for technical advice)

Hummingbird

I was walking to get something for breakfast at Austin Peay State University yesterday and stopped to take a picture of a fountain to put on the Steampunk Sculpture Facebook Page and this little beauty showed up. It was within a foot of me several times.

windymikewindy at Simple Gestures

Our show went well tonight at Simple Gestures in St. Augustine Florida. Windy and I both sold some work and it was fun to have our first exhibit together at Simple G's. Here are the two main walls that our work was on, The "Pie in the Sky Paintings", Windy's piece made up of 6 pieces and Alisa and James showing off the paintings I made for them for being such awesome friends to me, Windy and Joey.

For my friend Sarah Foss who goes to Nease

Sarah here are some images of my recent(last 6 years) work and activities. The lightbulbs are from way back when we first met around 2004 or 5. They were in a show at the St. Pete Pier in 2005. The guitar with Hank Williams Sr. is also from around that time and was in my show at the APSU Alumni Gallery in 2009 in Clarksville TN. I also play it in the video in one of the older post. The picture of Joey is with paintings that he and I worked on in 2010 when he was 2 1/2. They were shown at Simple G's. We kept one for his room. The picture of me on the ladder is rolling up the mural that now hangs in the St. Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum where I worked for about a month as an artist with Uncle Stevo and Katherine Marsh in 2010. The mask with nails is from 2009. It's called train of thought and hangs in my parents house in Nashvile. The post right below this one has work I made on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Thanks for wanting to talk with me about my work. You should get an A.
Sincerly,
mikewindy

New wood carvings

Finally getting into the studio and making some art. Here are some 1'x1' scrap wood blocks that I carved over the past 2 days. These are part of a 12 foot column that I'm making for a proposal for a public sculpture in Chattanooga TN.

New work and work in progress

Here is a piece called " Mask for remembering the Spangled Homburg that a Hawk killed at Wedge Oak Farms"
It was in the US Bank show up in Clarksville last month.
I love the picture of the barbed wire grown into the two trees at Cindy's (from Aunt Sister on etsy) where we went for an easter party. The other picture is of a mask in progress at my dad's workshop in Inglewood. I'm starting about 20 new pieces that I hope will be in the neighborhood of the piece I traded to Barb Gibson last year. oops the barbed wire picture is sideways.
