For my friend Sarah Foss who goes to Nease

Sarah here are some images of my recent(last 6 years) work and activities. The lightbulbs are from way back when we first met around 2004 or 5. They were in a show at the St. Pete Pier in 2005. The guitar with Hank Williams Sr. is also from around that time and was in my show at the APSU Alumni Gallery in 2009 in Clarksville TN. I also play it in the video in one of the older post. The picture of Joey is with paintings that he and I worked on in 2010 when he was 2 1/2. They were shown at Simple G's. We kept one for his room. The picture of me on the ladder is rolling up the mural that now hangs in the St. Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum where I worked for about a month as an artist with Uncle Stevo and Katherine Marsh in 2010. The mask with nails is from 2009. It's called train of thought and hangs in my parents house in Nashvile. The post right below this one has work I made on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Thanks for wanting to talk with me about my work. You should get an A.
Sincerly,

New wood carvings

Finally getting into the studio and making some art. Here are some 1'x1' scrap wood blocks that I carved over the past 2 days. These are part of a 12 foot column that I'm making for a proposal for a public sculpture in Chattanooga TN.

New work and work in progress

Here is a piece called " Mask for remembering the Spangled Homburg that a Hawk killed at Wedge Oak Farms"
It was in the US Bank show up in Clarksville last month.
I love the picture of the barbed wire grown into the two trees at Cindy's (from Aunt Sister on etsy) where we went for an easter party. The other picture is of a mask in progress at my dad's workshop in Inglewood. I'm starting about 20 new pieces that I hope will be in the neighborhood of the piece I traded to Barb Gibson last year. oops the barbed wire picture is sideways.

Atlanta, Hank Sr. in the mountains and the best fence in America

Windy, Joey and I went with my Mom and Dad to Atlanta to visit Joey's namesake(big Joe) and his wife and kids. On the way home we drove through the mountains and visited Helen, Georgia where I saw this great poster of Hank Sr. in Betty's IGA. Someone in Helen had as Jim White said "an aesthetic outburst" and nailed up all the old shoes they've found in the river over the years. Dad pointed out a great hand painted Coke sign. If you have one stop in Chattanooga skip the Choo-Choo and go see the best fence in America made by Albert Paley at the Hunter Museum up on the hill.

Austin Peay Steampunk University is created

From June 6th -July 8th APSU becomes Austin Peay Steampunk University. It's an upper division sculpture class that will explore all things Steampunk. The class kind of came about in a real organic way with a discussion with a student and one thing lead to another and now I'm teaching a summer class about Steampunk. It should be really fun. We are using "The Steampunk Bible" as our text. It doesn't even come out until May but looks pretty awesome. I just emailed the director of Nickel Children and he's interested in screening the film at some point during the class here in Clarksville. Here's the poster that the talented Carolyn Madison made for the class. We are also on facebook as AustinPeay SteampunkUniversity.

Sunday Afternoon Paintings and Street Side Art Show

Joey and I made some big paintings Sunday afternoon and decided to lean them up on tobacco sticks along Haysboro ave in front of Mom and Dad's for a few hours to show em off to the neighborhood and see if there were any Joey Fox-mikewindy collectors who would part with $20 to take one home. No takers this time so they're out back with Malea's mini peace pole getting some good weather that'll help em look even nicer.

Peace Eagles at Wedge Oak Farms

I took these pictures on the way back the main barn from feeding Big Momma(pig) one day at Wedge Oak Farms. I like how birds can make ordinary moments feel epic.
