First Art Drop of 2013...oops 2014

I always make this mistake with writing last year's date on some sort of paperwork. This is actually the first  art drop for john of 2014.

Rachel Hall Kirk

Rachel Hall Kirk stopped by my Intro to Visual Art Class in Nashville last night and made her 10 hour day of teaching into a 12 hour day of Teaching. The students and I loved her presentation. Stay tuned for the portraits of her Westies I'll be making as a Thank You for sharing her time and work with my students at Bethel University.

Making up History

My big brother Joey had his high school basketball Jersey retired on January 10th, 2014. Our coach had told me he was frustrated that he had not kept Joey's jersey aside when he gave the old ones to the community center across the street from MLK some years back. So I decided to make a piece of art that closely resembled Joey's #44 and give it to him. I used pictures from the scrapbook my Mom made for me.
Coach Shelton didn't know I was making it and had another Jersey put in a frame for the trophy case but used mine during the ceremony on Friday. He told me in an email today(January 13th) that he planned to put both in the trophy case at MLK. To see the jersey in it's frame check out this site by Nashville Photographer Mike Strasinger

Unknown date for ADFJ

You'd have to ask John what the date on this ADFJ is.
He would probably tell you as he's a really nice guy.
A few friends from Florida have asked who John is.
Well, he's my neighbor a few houses down who I started hanging out with and skating with a few summers ago.
He's also an artist and a musician. A painting of his graces the cover of one of his current band's newest records. To learn more about Lees of Memory follow this link
The other band John is currently in (or at least the one I know about) is called Epic Ditch.
Joey and I recently stayed out late (8:30pm!) on a school night to see them play at the 6th Ave. Skate Park.
It was a great show and Joey's first skate rock show.
Here is their bandcamp site.
He's really into Hot Chicken so that's why there's a whole Hot Chicken Series(HCS) inside the ADFJ larger series. I hope that clears things up Stevo and other friends from Florida.

December 9th Art Drop for John

Our puppy Lola got this little white block the chicken head is painted on while it was drying by the heater. I found it out in the yard. I was a little frustrated until I took a breath and realized how cool it looked with her teeth marks. I used non-toxic craft paint on it so she was just fine.
